Robert’s initiation into syrup-making came from his father, tapping 12 trees around their driveway and utilizing an old black kettle in their garden. Following college, Robert returned to the family dairy farm in 1976, working alongside his brother while continuing to produce maple syrup on the side. Upon retiring from the dairy business, he wholeheartedly committed himself to syrup production, expanding to 3500 taps and formally establishing Staples Maple Syrup. Jill’s roots in syrup-making trace back to her visits to her grandfather’s farm in Mount Pleasant. Their collective experiences laid a robust foundation for their joint venture. Jill, a registered nurse, offers a unique perspective, balancing her healthcare career with her involvement in Staples Maple Syrup.
