JJ Stewart
John James Stewart, also known as Jack and “Mr. Norwood” lived all of his 102 years of life in Norwood. The son of the local garage owner and car dealer, Jack started helping his father with the business when he was in high school and became the sole owner of the business in 1937. Jack changed the name of the business to JJ Stewart Motors and built it into the brand we know today. An active member of the Norwood United Church and family man, Jack married Marguerite McGee in 1939 and they spent 60 years together. It wasn’t long before their two sons, Ross and John joined them in the business, and in more recent years their grandsons Dave and Mark. His philanthropic and community works would fill several pages, but he was most proud of his work with the church and the Norwood community. Jack Stewart built his business based on honesty, familial pride, generosity and service. He spent every day working hard for his business and his community and continued to do so right up to the age of 102. His business lives on through his family and the indelible marks he left on the Norwood community. |
