Robert Winslow

Robert Winslow’s 4th Line Theatre is the result of heritage and passion. The Millbrook farm which is the centre stage for the theatre, has been in the Winslow family since the 1840’s. However, Robert’s love was the arts. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at University of Toronto, then worked on fine tuning his acting skills with Peterborough theatrical organizations, including Trent’s Magic Circus, The Union Theatre, East City Players, and Peterborough Theatre Guild. In 1990, he inherited the family farm and wondered how to combine the heritage property with his love of acting. The result was 4th Line Theatre and their first production, “The Cavan Blazers”, a play about the local historical tensions between the Irish Catholics and Protestants. It was instantly a hit. Robert wrote plays about local history, including the local participants in WWI, and Barnardo Children. What rings true in these production is the audience “see their lives portrayed.” Robert has brought millions of dollars to the region through his theatre, and also launched the acting careers of a number of young local artists. He has brought prominence to the area’s history and citizens, believing in the old axiom, “If you don’t learn from history, you’ll repeat it.”
