A JA program for grades 9 to 12
JA Career Tours is an interactive day program that takes grade 9-12 students outside of the classroom and into the community to give them a look at the daily operations of real, local businesses within the Trades / Service Industries.
This program opens students up to the behind-the-scenes within each different business and showcases all the local career opportunities that could be available to them after high-school. Businesses will share knowledge, experience and advice around education, career choices and relevant skills required in today’s workplace.
Students will:
- Become empowered to succeed in designing a career path.
- Learn the tools to better meet the challenges of today’s work world.
- Gain a better understanding of local careers in the Trades / Services industry.
- Develop a proactive attitude about a future career.
- Have the potential for co-op opportunities and employment.
- Learn that post-secondary school is one of many options after high-school.
- Learn about a plethora of roles and “best practice” behaviors.
