JA Career Tours

A JA program for grades 9 to 12

JA Career Tours is an interactive day program that takes grade 9-12 students outside of the classroom and into the community to give them a look at the daily operations of real, local businesses within the Trades / Service Industries.
This program opens students up to the behind-the-scenes within each different business and showcases all the local career opportunities that could be available to them after high-school. Businesses will share knowledge, experience and advice around education, career choices and relevant skills required in today’s workplace.

Students will:

  • Become empowered to succeed in designing a career path.
  • Learn the tools to better meet the challenges of today’s work world.
  • Gain a better understanding of local careers in the Trades / Services industry.
  • Develop a proactive attitude about a future career.
  • Have the potential for co-op opportunities and employment.
  • Learn that post-secondary school is one of many options after high-school.
  • Learn about a plethora of roles and “best practice” behaviors.
